Casa Mãe
R. do Jogo da Bola 41, 8600-712 Lagos, Portugal // map

We discovered Casa Mãe by the historic city walls of Lagos. The property features three different buildings: a beautifully restored 19th century estate house Casa Mãe (aka Mother House); the Jogo da Bola building, where cosy minimalism perfectly blends with traditional Algarvian architecture; and three rustic Cabanas for a more open experience (where all the families with little kids will be as there is room to run around!).
There’s also a big organic orchard, a farm-to-table restaurant, a triangular pool, an outdoor cinema, a juice bar, craft coffee and a concept store dedicated to Portuguese design.
Your room is already booked and taken care of. You just need to show up, check-in, and relax.

Parking for hotel is here (walk through archway).

There are two main airports you can fly into.
Lisbon (LIS) is roughly 2.5 hours away or Faro Airport (FAO) is roughly 1 hour away. There are more direct flights to Lisbon but if you're already in Europe, Faro is closer to the venue.
Another tactic is to get any direct flight to Europe and use some of the smaller European airlines to get to Lisbon/Faro. TAP Portugal, easyJet and Norwegian often have cheap airfares into Lisbon/Faro.

The closest airport in Spain is Seville (SVQ) which is a 3 hour drive from Lagos.

Renting a car
Renting a car and driving from Lisbon or Faro to Lagos is recommended as it's fairly easy to drive. The freeways are new and direct. We suggest a compact car as the streets in Lagos are narrow. Driving from Lisbon is a 2.5 hour drive and Faro is about a 1 hour drive away.

#pro-tips
1) Get a toll pass from the rental car agency.
2) Download Google Maps offline for Android or Apple before you arrive in Portugal so that you have a cached map of the roads.

Airport shuttles / transfers
If you prefer not to drive, shuttles are available from Lisbon and Faro. Greenbus and Yellowfish are recommended companies for booking a private or shared transfer. These can be expensive from Lisbon, so if you're flying into Lisbon, we'd recommend sharing a ride.
If you'd like to share a ride, let us know in the RSVP and we'll try to line you up with some other guests.

Uber
The main town in Lagos is very small and very walkable (has a few hills). That said, Ubers are abundant if you need to get around on your own while there.
For group activities, a few of us will have cars so it should be easy enough to coordinate rides.

If you don't feel like doing much and just want to relax, Casa Mãe will be perfect for that. But it's also a great base to explore the surrounding areas and the many amazing beaches this region has to offer. Casa Mãe will provide us with their own maps of the local footpaths (great for jogging, walking and cycling). Let us know if there is any activity that you are interested in doing and we can help pre-arrange, especially during the free times on Thursday and Friday!
